Ping Pong

Today at work I was appointed to help an ex-client who needed to be credited for something. It looked like a simple thing, but I ended up spending a lot of time between my other work, mailing and calling two departments of our company who were blaming eachother for something and in the ended blaming the ex-client instead of looking a bit better... In the end it still turned out to be a simple thing, but apparently it seems so much easier to pass the problem to another department. Well, it kept coming back, now didn't it? Argh... efficiency?

letters

It's been quite a while since I had (or made) time for it, but today I wrote several letters and I loved it. Jessica, one letter will be on its way to you :)

Christmas gifts

Michel has been Christmas shopping this afternoon. When I just came home I immediately saw two beautifully wrapped gifts under the Christmas tree. Curious as I am, I checked them out and I think I already know what I'm getting. The first are slippers, because you could feel it very well and I needed new slippers. I actually bought slippers a while ago, but they are just not that comfortable as they seem the first two minutes you wear them. So I end up walking around on my socks. Hopefully the slippers are cute or funny :) The other was also very easy as it has a sticker of "Ici Paris" on it. I'm pretty sure it's the shower gel of my favourite smell, which is Ultraviolet of Paco Rabanne. That's my daily perfume and I once bought the shower gel with a voucher I got from work. Because it's a pretty expensive shower gel I only used it once in a while, special occasions, you know. One day I thought of using it again and it was completely empty!! An intensive interrogation learned me Michel had used it because his showergel was empty and this one smelled so good. Urgh!! So I think he now wants to make up for it, which is pretty sweet! This time I will put it away safely though!

Woohoo! I'm proud of myself! Michel is away for a big band rehearsal and normally when he is, I lay myself down and read, watch tv and do nothing all day. Which can be great of course. But today, as soon as he was gone I started to work out. First I practised an hour on some dance routines from my dance classes, then I did 30 minute on the hometrainer , concluding with another 30 minutes of Wii boxing. Sweat was dripping all over me but I felt great :)

I just took a shower and I feel so energetic! Now I'm making vegetable soup to have for dinner as I have to eat alone anyway. Michel doesn't like soup, so I'll have a healthy yummy meal for tonight and lunch for the next days.

Early bird

Tonight I woke up to go to the loo, which happens mostly every night, so that was pretty normal. When I crawled back into bed I saw the alarm clock said 3am, while it just felt like I had been in bed for about an hour (went to sleep at midnight). When I looked closer I saw my alarm wasn't put on, so I quickly put it on and checked the alarm time: 6.45am. So a few hours later the alarm goes off, I'm feeling like I didn't have enough sleep, so I struggle to get out of bed and went to take a shower. A bit more awake, I brush my teeth, dry my hair, put on my make-up, get dressed, ... I'm ready so I go through the living room to get myself further ready for work, when I see the big clock saying it's 5.30am!!! 5.30!!! One way or another I managed to put the time 2 hours further without having a clue. There I stand, it's 5.30am and I'm totally dressed and ready. You know, I actually made myself breakfast and left for work at 6am, 2 hours sooner than I normally do. It was strange being at the office so early, but the good thing is I could get a lot of things done. But believe me, I don't plan to do this again.

Oh yes, I joined Facebook. Couldn't handle the peer pressure anymore ;) I'm still a bit lost. I added some pictures and now I'm like... okay, what's next. I'll see if I like it, otherwise I'll leave it where it is.

Michel and I both have a day off from work and he's sleeping on the couch. We thought about going to Antwerp to do some shopping, but the weather is so unpredictable today and there's a heavy wind, so we decided not to go. We'll have a few more days off the coming weeks, so we can go another time.

Maybe it's not too bad that I'm not shopping today as I spent quite a lot of money last week during a quick visit in a Mexx shop last week. In less than half an hour I bought myself two pairs of trousers, a skirt, a top and a blouse. And today I found a speeding ticket in the mail as well. However, I still need a new handbag (a black one that goes with everything), a pair of boots (also black) and a new belt (a brown one).

Samhain Nocturne

Yesterday my mother, Michel and I went to the Samhain Nocturne, which is on old Keltic tradition, which celebrates the transition from summer to winter. It was a mysterious spectacle with music, art, fire and light and that all in the woods which gave it something extra.

Tonight we're invited for dinner at the new house of our friends. I'm quite curious to see their house, but we're invited at 7pm so I'm afraid that it will be already dark so we want really see the outside very well. They just texted us to bring our slippers, because there's only sand outside and the weather's is horrible today and otherwise we'll bring too much mud inside. I think that makes it more comfortable, walking around in someone elses house on my own slippers ;)

Oh no!

I guess now that everybody is/has been sick, I can't stay behind. Since noon, my throat is hurting so bad, and nothing seems to help. I think I'd better crawl under a blanket and wait for it to go away :/ To more days and I'm off from work for two weeks...

Oh well...

Apparently Goldfinger isn't that interesting afterall! After writing my post I was looking at the site of the cultural centre we went to tonight. I saw that they play the movie "It's a free world" from Ken Loach next week, a film we wanted to go to this week at Zebra Cinema (mondial quality movies) but we couldn't because Michel had to work late and I had an extra dance class to give. As I love Ken Loach movies, I was cheerful and went to tell Michel only to find him snoring on the couch! Puh!

Just a few more weeks

And we'll be enjoying a break from work. We'll be off from work 2 weeks; the first week we'll use to rest and to do stuff that needs to be done but you never get to. The second week we're going away to the Netherlands (Gelderland), we will rent a little house in a nice region that's perfect for cycling and walking. Next to that, I guess I will be reading a lot. That's all I need for a holiday right now, just being relaxed and enjoy some time together. The end of the year is traditionally a very busy one in my job, so I'd better be ready.

Hmm... looking forward to that, but first a few more weeks at work...

What I love about autumn

I'm completely in the mood for autumn. Tonight it was raining and I just settled myself on the couch, under a fleece blanket, with a book (The Godfather) and a mug with hot milk and honey... What else do you need?

Chocolate chips cookies of course, but well, that will be for another time ;)

It's been a while... again...

Partly it is because I was too busy again to spend time on the internet in the evening, partly it's because our pc broke down (maybe as a protest that we hardly used it lately, it might have felt neglected).

I think last time I promised some pictures from our trip to Ireland, it has already been 3 months since we went.

This picture was taken at the Cliffs of Moher.

The rocky roads on the island Inis Mor.

Just the two of us.

Wiii!!!

The last few weeks, Michel and I are spending quite some time playing the Star Wars game on the Wii. I don't know anything about Star Wars, but I like the game, although Michel has to warn me sometimes that I'm shooting or hitting the good guys. Anyway, it's fun to play this together and come up with ideas for solutions together. Still doing quite a lot of Wii Sports, mostly before or after my 30 minutes on the hometrainer. Since I have my Ipod, it's not so bad anymore. I used to read on the hometrainer, but then I noticed my speed was going down a lot. Today, I also decided to spend a little money on other Wii games as I received the money for my dance classes of the last month. So I ordered Sports Party (which is going to be released this Friday), Super Mario Galaxy (because I loved playing Mario games as a kid and I'm hoping this one is going to be fun) and Dancing Stage, which is a dancing game with a dance mat, which should be some fun exercise.

I'm back!

We're back from Ireland and we had a lovely time. We spent 5 days in Dublin, a few days in Lisdoornvarna (The Burren area) and 4 days in Galway. I will post some pictures later, because I don't have them online yet. Highlights definitely were the Cliffs of Moher, the trip to the island Inis Mor and the live music in the pubs in Galway.

I hope you all are doing well, I'm gonna try to catch up a bit until Michel wants to go online to check his mails.

Uhoh!

Almost 3 months since my last entry. Where are those days I was worried because we got limited to 5 entries a day? I used to be totally addicted to LJ, posting several entries in a row, playing LJ pingpong in the middle of the night (which was so much fun!). Now, eventhough I'm not updating regularly anymore, I never think about getting rid of this journal or not reading my friends' updates anymore. It's just that I'm not that inspired to write myself and I'm just not spending as much time on the internet as I used to. I used to get ideas to post about something when it was just happening. Maybe it's also because there's just not so much happening. My life is mainly Michel, work and dance classes and there's only so much you can say about it. Oh well, maybe there are lots of things to tell about it, but not all that interesting. But anyway, I should give it a try again and write about no matter what...

Christmas tree

Yesterday Michel and I decorated our Christmas tree, a fake one, yes. Everyday year we have this funny discussion about the tree being decorated in style or multicolored and crazy. This was the result of this year. Of course we always have to help ourselves with what we have, because we don't want to spend money on Christmas decoration until we have our own house (not for soon).

Dance classes

I have such a nice group of girls this year. For a large part still the girls who are in the group for more than 5 years already. One of them has actually been in one of my groups for 10 years already, just as long as I teach. Several of the girls are teaching younger groups themselves, I only have one group anymore because otherwise it's too hard to combine with my job. Recently I found a funny top and funky shoes to go dancing, they always lift up my mood when I'm not feeling 100%. Here you can see the top and the shoes :)

How I enjoyed this day off (it's a bank holiday in Belgium), and I hope I have enough energy again for the next days to come. Tomorrow will a busy day at work and it will be a long one because our boss invited my colleague and me to a party where a lot of business people will be so we will be able to do some networking.

By the way, again some changes at work. My boss has made a bit of a turn in her carreer (within our company) and she's no longer our boss. So again, a new boss, but luckily someone I already know from our company. She's been doing the job already for a while, but now she's responsable for our region as well. We had our first meeting and I like her view on things.

Saturday, Michel will have a big concert with the bigband he plays in (www.mobb.be -> you can hear samples of their music there, if you click on "music"). A lot of our friends are coming so I'm sure it will be a lot of fun. Michel plays the trombone and has also done some music arrangements for the show.

Uhoh!

I almost had a sleepover at work! I was working at another office and when my colleagues were leaving they asked if I had a key to close and I said I had (I do have one), so they went on and locked the door (I was working at a desk upstairs). An hour later I was ready to go home but I couldn't find the right key. Suddenly it hit me. I put the keys of other offices away, because I hardly ever need them and they put extra weight in my bag. So there I was at the office, not able to get out! Luckily a colleague wanted to come back and get me out, otherwise I still would've been there.

I have my new company car and I love it! It's a brand new Ford Focus:

But then in a light shade of blue :)
